Why Your Powerful Why is so Important

Have you ever started doing

something, you put a lot of hard work into it, and then all of a sudden you think, "why am I doing this?"

You may have started a New Year's Resolutions, only to have run our of steam, or by now it may be a distant memory.....

I can't tell you how many times I tried to stop eating chocolate for a month! Never made it and about 3 days in I always wondered "why did I think this was a good idea!"

Or when you decide you are going to get up every morning and go for a run before work.....but then the snooze button on your alarm....I mean who hit the snooze?

I think we have all been there at one time or another.

When you do not establish "Why" you are doing something, when you get bogged down with the unpleasant part of doing it, you find it is easy to drop it and think it was a crazy idea anyway!

However, sometimes we need to make changes that are challenging. That is when you Powerful Why become a valuable tool to help you meet your goal.

More that one of my clients who wanted to reverse their diabetes have told me that, without establishing their Powerful Why, they do not think they could have made the diet and lifestyle changes that were necessary to reach their goal.

So how do you create Your Powerful Why?

Take a piece of paper and create two columns. One column write "What I want Less of in My Life" and in the other column "What I want More of in My Life." Then begin to write down things that would create happiness, or simply take away from your happiness.

By getting clear on what you want more of in your life, you will begin to form a powerful why.

For instance, if I want to be able to go on a great vacation this year this may become My Powerful Why to start a savings so I can go somewhere cool like the Greek Islands.

Or maybe I want to be able to hike up a 14er in Colorado, this may be My Powerful Why to start training to make that type of hike.

So what do you want to create more of in your life?

Whether it is to take a cool vacation, start cooking more nutritious meals, or lose the muffin top, your success all begins with establishing Why it is important for you to meet your goal.

My challenge to you this week is to take the time to get clear on what is important to you. What do you want more of in your life, or what do you want to let go, then create Your Powerful Why, set your goal and make it happen.
